What a great day out, couldn't ask for more action! Ban and I headed out from Ponce Inlet this fall for an early morning offshore run with clear conditions all day. The water was co-operating perfectly for what we had planned, and I knew we were in for a solid trip with Top Notch Adventures.

Non-stop bites all day long! Summer fishing in Port Orange FL was in full swing as I took Renae and their crew out for an early morning adventure with Top Notch Adventures. The clear conditions set the stage for a perfect day on the water, though we kept an eye out for those possible strong storms. We launched from 93 Dunlawton Ave, ready to explore the productive waters of Ponce Inlet.

Once the stage was set, we got down to business with some live bait fishing. The Gafftopsail sea catfish were the first to show up, with a nice 16-incher giving us a good fight. We mixed it up with some surf casting, which proved to be the ticket for landing an Atlantic Sharpnose Shark. The real excitement came when we switched to light tackle jigging - that's when we hooked into a 16-inch Bonnethead Shark. The variety kept things interesting, and we were just getting warmed up.

The highlight of the day came when we landed a impressive 27-inch Spanish Mackerel. That catch really showcased why Port Orange is such a great spot for inshore fishing. We wrapped up our 4-hour charter with smiles all around, having experienced a true taste of what these waters have to offer.

March is a prime time to target a variety of species in these nearshore waters, and the conditions today couldn't have been better – partly cloudy skies, great visibility, and just a light breeze to keep things comfortable. Michael and I met up at the 93 Dunlawton Ave launch point right at 7 AM, ready to get our lines in the water and see what the day had in store.

As we made our way out, we started working the wrecks and jetties, mixing up our techniques with some deep-sea trolling and heavy tackle action. It didn't take long before we had our first hookup – a feisty Atlantic Spanish mackerel that put up a great fight. We kept the momentum going, landing a few more Spanish mackerels, as well as a nice Whitetip reef shark that had us on our toes. When we switched over to some lighter tackle, the sheepshead really started to turn on, and we had a blast working the structure for those tasty, hard-fighting fish.

The variety of species we encountered out here was really impressive. One minute we'd be hooked up on a mackerel or shark, the next we'd be battling a sheepshead or some other surprise. It kept us on our toes and made for an incredibly fun and action-packed day. Between the great fishing, the beautiful scenery, and the awesome company, this nearshore trip had it all.
